- Here an update on the article I posted a number of months ago now
- (see below dotted line) :-
-
- My court case against Siren Software came up at Milton Keynes
- County Court, and within 2 minutes of the hearing starting,
- the Magistrate told me that I would get my money back in full.
- (Which I did, within 2 weeks - 50.49 ukp inc. court costs).
- So the moral of the story is - If you get ripped off, dont let
- them away with it - the law is on your side!!

- HERE IS A WARNING FOR ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING ANY AMIGA STUFF OFF
- SIREN SOFTWARE OF MANCHESTER...
-
-
- Some months ago I sent to Siren Software for an Apollo 50MHz '030
- accelerator card for my Amiga 1200. This was the start of my troubles.
-
- On receiving the card, I noted with apprehension that the 68030 chip
- on the board was a 33MHz 68030 being run at 50MHz.
-
- From the start, the card would not work properly for more than five
- minutes at a time, even Workbench itself failed to work for any
- length of time before crashing.
-
- Just to be TOTALLY sure that it was the card at fault I sent to Siren
- Software for a high output power supply, and a 60ns ram simm (although
- I paid fo these bymy brothers' credit card over the phone it still took
- two weeks for them to arrive).
-
- There was no improvement at all so I sent the card back asking for a new
- one, which I eventually got, along woth a note saying that there was no
- fault with the old one.
-
- The new card behaved in exactly the same manner, so I sent it back asking
- for a refund, and sent to Power Computing for a viper 50MHz 030 card,
- which now works perfectly in my computer.
-
- After many, many phone calls, it has turned out that a refund went into my
- Brothers' mastercard account on 4 August 1995 (although I did not pay
- for the '030 card with his mastercard, only the power supply and fast ram).
- No one even took the trouble to inform me that this transaction had
- taken place, and even worse, when I checked to see how much the refund
- was it was 229, when I actually paid 269.
-
- When I phoned Siren to find out why they had charged me 40, I was politely
- told that if I had read the back of the receipt then I would know it
- was their policy to charge a 'handling' fee of 15% on all returned
- goods.
-
-
- Moral of story:- do NOT buy anything from Siren Software, because if
- it doesn't work on your computer you will only get
- a partial refund (eventually).
- (I bet this isn't even legal either....)
